How to Write a Utility Contractor Company Description
How to write a concise company description that presents utility construction, excavation, and underground infrastructure capabilities for discovery and listing use.

Write for the person searching
Buyers skim. The first sentence should state what you do, for whom, and where — for example: "Underground utility contractor installing and renewing natural-gas distribution mains and services for municipal and investor-owned operators across Ohio and Kentucky."
A reliable structure
- Sentence 1: scope, customer type, and geography.
- Sentence 2: self-performed capabilities, stated plainly.
- Sentence 3: crews, equipment or qualification posture that shows capacity.
- Sentence 4: how you work — safety program, restoration standards, inspection support.
What to leave out
- Marketing superlatives that cannot be verified.
- Certifications, qualifications or approvals you do not currently hold.
- Scope you would have to subcontract entirely.
- Contact details that belong in the contact fields, not the description.
Consistency matters
Use the same description across your website, capability statement and directory listing. Reviewers compare them, and differences read as carelessness.
